Most factories and workshops rely on a ready supply of compressed air. Compressed air is an energy source generated on site, unlike natural gas or electricity. Clay Critters is no different. Every department here uses it for tasks such as airbrushing, spray painting, dusting off, or powering air cylinders in machines. Our twelve-year-old 5 Hp compressor blew a head gasket last month so we went to our 1.5 Hp backup. The little guy ran almost constantly, that’s how much air we use. Air is so vital to our operation, that we had an implementation plan in place should the compressor fail. In two days we had a new 7.5 Hp compressor delivered and it was operating the next business day. At no time were we out of compressed air. Since then the 5 Hp unit has been repaired and will make a great backup unit going into the future. We should be set for another 12-15 years.
